ABBA concert...

...The next best thing to ABBA, anyway.
Last night Mom took me to an ABBA coverband concert.  They call themselves ARRIVAL, and it was sooo much fun!  They are from Sweden and one of them was the most happy little man that I've ever seen.  He just made me laugh.  We had really good seats in the front row and were praying that it wouldn't start thundering and lightening.  They would have called it if it had, and that would have been two years in a row that mom and I tried to see them and couldn't.  Lucky for us, there was only a sprinkle here and there.  We got to enjoy the whole thing and then got a picture and autographs after.  Then we got lost on the way to Denny's to enjoy some late night coffee and cheescake.  On Wednesday, they are having a Mama Mia movie-in-the park/sing-a-long.  I'm thinking of taking the kids.  Jaxton would love it.  He really likes that movie.  I saw so many little kids having fun at this concert and I kept thinking of him.  He loves to stand on my bed and sing to my ABBA cd.  I just about died when I saw them let all of the little kids on the stage to sing "Dancing Queen" with them.  It was so cute and I could just see Jaxton up there dancing.  There is always next year... hopefully.

birthday party fun

This weekend my nephew, Joey, had his birthday party.  I just can't believe how big Jaxton is getting.  It was so fun to watch him get right in there with the big kids and play with water guns.  It's amazing how he's getting less shy as he gets older.  It's like in the last few months he has suddenly become this different kid. He's big now.

This girl cracks me up! She seems to have a face for everything, lately.  She's becoming very animated like Jaxton.

A day trip to East Canyon Reservoir

On Friday, Mitch and I took a drive in the mountains and ended up at East Canyon Reservoir.  It was the first time that the kids played in water other than a pool or bathtub and they loved it.  They didn't really know how to react to the sandy dirt beneath their feet at first, but they quickly got used to it.  Jaxton even made a little friend and I could have watched them play together all day.

Jaxton is officially big.  He now prefers to pee standing up.  I'm actually quite impressed.  He's been at it for days and I've not had to clean any pee up yet.  Let's cross our fingers that he keeps his good aim, and it's not just "beginner's luck".

A new adventure... grapevines

Our neighbor never does yardwork and she has so many out of control vines that come over into our side of the fence.  We do our best to keep our side under control but we can only do so much when it's stemming from her yard.  Over the last couple of years we have come to discover that, amongst all of the nonsense, there are grapes... and they are soooo yummy!  So Mitch decided that the only way to keep it from overtaking our whole entire fence, but still enjoy the grapes, was to build a place for them to grow. Well they certainly are growing and we can't wait to eat them.  He doesn't really know what he's doing so he was a little skeptical that it would actually work, but it seems to be fine so far.

forever to bloom.  Now that it finally has, I had to take a picture. 

Slurpee Day!

Today was 7-Eleven's Anniversary and so everyone got free 7.11oz slurpees.  I haven't had a slurpee in forever and I must say it was very refreshing.  Kayla seemed to think so too.  Here is Kayla enjoying her very first slurpee...

The Funny Things That Jaxton Says

I was doing dishes and I opened a travel coffee mug, thinking it was empty.  Well it wasn't and coffee spilled everywhere including on Jaxton.
He says to me, "Mommy, what is this smelling drink?!"

Jaxton: "Look Mommy! Come look at this, HA HA... it's a big Daddy!
I came outside to look, thinking he was talking about Mitch (he calls Mitch his big Daddy). He wasn't going to point out Mitch at all.  It was a daddy long-legs spider.

These are just a few examples of the things I hear on almost a daily basis.  He pushes my buttons but things like this snap me out of my "mad" mood pretty quickly.

4th of July weekend

Since the 4th of July lands on a Sunday, it's a whole weekend celebration here in Utah.  Anything that lands on a Sunday is actually celebrated on a Saturday or Monday.  In this case, it was a Saturday.  Anything fireworks was celebrated on the 3rd of July.  We are however having our normal 4th of July barbecue on the actual 4th.
This was a big year for us because it is the first time since Jaxton was born that we actually went to see fireworks. Saturday was full of festivities and I must say... the kids were sooo good.
Our day started out with a parade and then straight into a carnival.  Jaxton is not a gutsy child at all and we were so shocked when he went on rides... by himself.  He had so much fun and he was so cute to watch. His favorite ride was a motorcycle ride that popped wheelies (is that how you spell it?)... anyway...
He went on it twice and probably could have gone on it a third, and still had just as much fun. Kayla was a trooper and watched him experience rides while she stayed in the stroller.  We did go on the merry-go-round and she hated it.  She screamed and I will admit that it was going a little fast for a kiddie ride.
Kayla had her first snow cone and loved it.  After hours of fun, we headed across the street for dinner at the bowling alley where Mitch was working. (He did experience the first part of the day with us, but then had to cut it short to go to work).  After dinner, it was back to the carnival where they had a "movie in the park".  Then it was straight into fireworks.  Jaxton was in awe of them and I think I spent longer watching his face then actually seeing any of the fireworks.  Mom, James, and Mark came to share in our movie and fireworks experience.  Mitch even got off of work earlier than expected and got to be with us, too.  It was such a fun, exhausting day...
