So Big!

The kids are getting so big. I can't even believe it. They play together all the time and it is so cute. I still can't believe how well Jaxton has adjusted and you can tell that he and Kayla really just like each other. He's not so good at sharing most of the time but he always wants her in his room with him and she constantly follows him wherever he goes. And when she's not able to follow Jaxton around everywhere, she will find something else to occupy her time. She loves to play "so big", and she has discovered the fun of the bathroom. She loves the bathtub. Whenever it is just a little too quiet, I have learned that the first place I should check is the bathroom. I always find that girl trying to climb in the tub. We are learning to leave the door shut.

One hectic night...

Oh my... there are no words to describe. Last night I had so much to do and hardly got any of it got done. Cynthia was doing homework and yells to me from the office, "why isn't the external hard drive working?". My stomach immediately drops. We have everything important on our external hard drive. After an hour of trying to find out what the heck, it turns out that our computer recognizes that something is connected to it but tells me that it won't work because "the device has malfuntioned...". It then continues to tell us that we need a replacement. I was so upset! Not to mention that Cynthia had a school project on there that she had been working on for months, due tomorrow, and if it wasn't recovered she would have to start all over again. Needless to say, that put me in a pretty bad mood. On top of it, Jaxton decided that today was the day he wasn't going to listen to anyone... He's throwing things in the house and knocking things over, talking back, throwing tantrums... and he's learned to lie. We were in time-out like a million times. I finally yelled at him and resorted to giving an early bedtime as a punishment. I always swore to myself that I would never say "if you don't be good, you're going to bed!" The last thing I need is for him to think that bedtime means he's in trouble. Well, I did it. I did something that I said I would never do... and there was no bedtime story either. And there was a gigantic tempertantrum because of it. In the midst of my whole night, Kayla decided that her new "thing" is not drinking her bottle unless I hold her. Since when did she become so picky? I just about lost my mind by the time I went to bed.
Luckily, after all night of fiddling with it and having a friend come take a look, we got the hard drive working again. Now I just hope it stays working properly. Whewww... what a night. Today is a new day.

Christmas 2009

Well this year was a really fun Christmas.  Jaxton was old enough to really get into the whole Christmas thing and Kayla loved the wrapping paper.  Brenda and Eric came out to visit and so did Sally, Danny, and Katey.  It was nice to have some of the family together.  Kayla got a walker this year and she hasn't figured out yet that if she walks, it moves.  She also got a teddy bear.  Jaxton got one on his first Christmas and it never leaves his side.  We thought we'd keep the tradition going and get Kayla one on her first Christmas.  Jaxton got a piggy bank and a new comforter for his bed.  They both, of course, got loved and spoiled by everyone around them.  The holidays were so fun this year...

Jaxton loves his piggy bank... now maybe we won't find so many random coins

Christmas Tree

We finally got our Christmas tree a few days ago...finally.  Kayla was so amazed and loved to touch them.  Jaxton just thought that it was fun to weave in and out of them and try to hide from us.

Of course, the tree wouldn't be just right until Jaxton got in there and helped out Daddy...

A fun-filled day for the kiddos...

Last Sunday was a big day for the kids and it was so much fun!
Mitch took Sunday off so we all got to spend the day together.  We took Jaxton and Kayla to sit on Santa's lap and it was so cute to watch.  Kayla loved Santa's hat and beard.  Jaxton doesn't remember it from last year so we had to prep him for what was going to happen.  He was all excited to tell him what he wanted for Christmas and take a picture, and when we finally got down to it, he refused to smile for a picture and, after much coaxing, he broke down and told Santa he wanted a piggy bank.  He is so stubborn!  On our way out, we received coupons for free cotton candy.  We, of course, got the cotton candy and took that opportunity to walk around the mall and do some last minute Christmas shopping.  Jaxton gave us a look like, "what the hell are you trying to make me eat?", and when he finally gave in and tried the cotton candy, he loved it!
Later that day, we took them to go see Sesame Street Live.  I knew Jaxton would be excited but it was so fun to watch his reaction.  He kept yelling, "Hi Elmo!", and waving.  I had no idea that Kayla would be so excited.  She was waving her arms and squealing with delight.  She has such a cute little personality.  Mitch and I couldn't help but giggle at her the whole time.  By the time we got home, the kids were pooped and were happy to go to bed.  All-in-all, it was such a fun day.  Here are some pictures...

Long time no post

Well it has been forever since I have posted anything but I have had too much going on.  All I can say is that I can't wait for the day that everyone in my household feels healthy.  It all started a week before Thanksgiving, when I got sick.  I had such a bad cold...fever, chills, and all.  Come Thanksgiving, Jaxton ended up with my cold.  A couple days after that, he came down with the flu, then I came down with the flu.  Then Kayla's cold set in and moved to her chest and she came down with a horrible ear infection on top of it.  She is on 3 different medications right now.  To top it off, Jaxton now has croupe.  Mitch and Cynthia have started complaining that their throats hurt and it's only a matter of time before their colds set in.  The only three places that I've seen in the last two weeks are work, home, and the doctor.  I'm going stir crazy.
On a brighter note, Thanksgiving went well.  We hosted it at our house and there were 30 people all together.  Everyone behaved, which is good, because we expected stupid family drama to come in the way of a good time.  However, it didn't happen and all was well.  Kayla got to meet Mitch's mom and stepdad.  She took really well to them and I was happy about that.  She met them once before but she was only 5 weeks old.

Kayla is getting so big, I can't even believe it.  She army crawls everywhere and is growing out of all her clothes, constantly it seems.  She is developing such a little personality.  She and Jaxton even play toghether now.  He loves to have her in his room and, when they don't think I'm listening, they just giggle and giggle at each other.  It is so cute!
Jaxton is changing all the time, too.  He still loves to dance and he plays air guitar when a song comes on that happens to strike him the right way.  It's so funny.  He talks so well now and is always spitting out some sort of phrase that we have never heard him say before.  He is learning to say his prayers at night and usually repeats what I say.  But last night, for the first time, he threw in his own prayer.  He said, "make us happy".  It was so cute.  Mitch and I just melted.  Anyway, there's the update on us.  Here are a few updated pictures.
