Camping July 2017

We went camping the day after Pioneer Day. Pioneer Day is a big day here in Utah, so things like camping at the water is super busy. Going the day after, though, was wonderful.  People were leaving to go back to work, so it wasn't packed. Jaxton finally caught a fish on the morning that we were packing up to leave.  It was so tiny but so amazing!  This kid has been trying SO HARD to catch a fish and I would have been so disappointed for him if he walked away without anything... again.  There are also tons of crawdads where we went, so I ordered a crawdad catcher, crossing my fingers that it would be awesome... AND IT WAS!!!  We caught so many crawdads and they were delicious.  Taking them apart to eat them is super disgusting, but when they are finally all clean and you can dip them in garlic butter... mmmm.

This is the crawdad catcher that I ordered.

I tricked them into taking a nap by playing the "who can keep their eyes closed the longest" game... worked like a charm. Jenna woke up an hour and a half later and told Mitch, "I did really good! I almost fell asleep."

Using the crawdad catcher and we caught so many crawdads!

Taking a little down-time to listen to Kayla read.

This kid and his fishing. I love it.

Ahhh! He finally caught a fish!

Owen clearly thought it was disgusting.

cooking the crawdads!

A Trip to Tony Grove

So a couple of days ago we took a trip to Tony Grove.  We've known that it's existed ever since we've moved to Logan, but we have yet to get to it.  Finally, 5 years later, it happened! Oh my gosh it's so cute there! A cute little reservoir and hiking trails and tons of wildflowers... and moose!!! We saw a moose and I pretty much loved him.  I wish I could've gotten a picture.  The little kids were too little to care, but the older kids thought he was fantastic!

I love these flowers... or seeds... or whatever they are.  They look like they belong in a Dr. Seuss book!

Owen saw me taking a picture of these red flowers and knew I liked them, so he was so happy to pick one for me!

Jaxton brought his toy explorer binoculars that he got years ago.  They actually worked surprisingly well!

I swear this kid wasn't satisfied until he jumped off of every rock he saw...

I loved seeing these two have the friendliest of chit-chats as they walked along.  They must've been talking about something good, because they were in their own little world for so long.

So I'm pretty sure this HAS to be the last bit of snow left. We have had an unusually hot summer, so I can't believe it's July and there is still snow lingering!!!
