Kayla's First Roasted Marshmallow
A couple of weeks ago, Kayla got to taste her first roasted marshmallow. She LOVED it and was very upset when we cut her off
Big like my brother
Kayla wants to do everything that Jaxton is doing and Jaxton wants to take everything away from Kayla. This is cause for a lot of parental interference. Jaxton always eats snacks and all things messy at the counter top and Kayla sticks to her highchair. Real meals are eaten at the table. Kayla has taken notice that Jaxton gets to sit in the really tall chair and has decided that since he's allowed, she should be allowed, too. It makes her look like such a big girl sitting in that chair.
A game of Peek-a-Boo
Surprise! Here I am!!!

The funny things Jaxton says... continued
Often said at breakfast time: "I love you when you make dinner".
I wonder when he will understand that breakfast is always in the morning, lunch is always in the afternoon, and dinner is always in the evening.
He has become my personal little cheerleader. I often hear him tell me "nice job, Mommy!" This phrase comes out of his mouth with so much enthusiasm and it's usually not when I do anything extraordinary and amazing. It's always when it's something completely normal, like putting on my shirt and pants or washing my hands before dinner.
For some random reason, he can't pronounce the letter 'G'. We notice this a lot lately because the grapes from our grapevine are now ready to eat. The kids are addicted and we hear this all throughout the day, every day: "mmmmm... I love these dreen drapes! Do you love these dreen drapes? Why don't you eat some?" He says this to whomever he sees enter the kitchen or backyard (the backyard is where the grapevine is).
We took the kids to Wheeler Farm the other day for a storytelling event. After the event was over, we stayed and strolled around to look at all of the animals. Usually we do stuff like this during the day but this time it was in the evening and while we were there it started to get dark. This is really gross and something we've not observed there before, maybe because we always go during the day, I don't know. Anyway, this time we noticed so many rats. Big fat rats! It grossed me out, I'll be honest, but Jaxton was so excited about this and when he saw one he clapped his hands and said "Look guys!... Rattles!" and then he giggles. Mitch and I laughed and we now refer to rats as rattles.

Love those chunky cheeks!
Kayla was quite content today in her diaper, an oversized bib, and hanging on to a pine-cone for dear life. No matter what she did, she did not let go of that pine-cone! I just love these pictures because she has such chunky cheeks and they are so cute... I love them and I just want to smoosh them!
And now that she's getting more hair, she is getting more and more curls at the bottom. They are darling.

I also love when the kids don't know I'm watching them. Here, Jaxton is amusing himself with a parachute toy, while trying to balance at the same time. What a cute little boy

Christmas in August
Just recently, Jaxton has realized that the things you see on commercials, you can usually buy. This amazes him! Our bedtime conversation went something like this:
Jaxton: Mommy, we are going to go shopping for a new light.
Me: Is that was Daddy said?
Jaxton: No, I want a new light for my bedroom light, and we are going shopping for a new light.
Me: Are you going to buy the light?
Jaxton: Hmmmm (pause for thinking)... no, we just gonna go shopping
Me: Oh, o.k.... how about you ask Santa for a new light
Jaxton: A toystory light
Me: O.k. you can ask Santa for a toystory light
Jaxton: Mommy, who is this Santa?
We then proceeded to talk about Christmas... Santa, presents, Christmas trees, Jesus' birthday, how Santa eats cookies and gets fat and jolly, and on and on...
This morning he woke up and came straight to me while rubbing his little eyes and says
Mommy, where are all these presents for me?
It was so sad and cute. He didn't understand that today wasn't Christmas. I think I devastated his morning.

ABBA concert...
...The next best thing to ABBA, anyway.
Last night Mom took me to an ABBA coverband concert. They call themselves ARRIVAL, and it was sooo much fun! They are from Sweden and one of them was the most happy little man that I've ever seen. He just made me laugh. We had really good seats in the front row and were praying that it wouldn't start thundering and lightening. They would have called it if it had, and that would have been two years in a row that mom and I tried to see them and couldn't. Lucky for us, there was only a sprinkle here and there. We got to enjoy the whole thing and then got a picture and autographs after. Then we got lost on the way to Denny's to enjoy some late night coffee and cheescake. On Wednesday, they are having a Mama Mia movie-in-the park/sing-a-long. I'm thinking of taking the kids. Jaxton would love it. He really likes that movie. I saw so many little kids having fun at this concert and I kept thinking of him. He loves to stand on my bed and sing to my ABBA cd. I just about died when I saw them let all of the little kids on the stage to sing "Dancing Queen" with them. It was so cute and I could just see Jaxton up there dancing. There is always next year... hopefully.

birthday party fun
This weekend my nephew, Joey, had his birthday party. I just can't believe how big Jaxton is getting. It was so fun to watch him get right in there with the big kids and play with water guns. It's amazing how he's getting less shy as he gets older. It's like in the last few months he has suddenly become this different kid. He's big now.
Here is Kayla watering flowers with her squirt gun
Jaxton got to help with the magic show
Kayla got to meet her Grandpa Scorsone for the very first time
